Wellness Examinations

In order to encourage and support a pet’s well-being, we believe the foundation starts with routine yearly wellness examinations. These wellness exams give us a chance to evaluate the overall health of your pet, identify health concerns before they become significant issues, and establish a detailed plan for preventative care for your pet.

Vaccinations

During wellness examinations, we will tailor a vaccination plan to your pet’s individual background and lifestyle. Vaccinations are powerful tools in preventing numerous infectious diseases to which your pet may be susceptible.

Microchipping

Microchipping provides a way to ensure the safe return of your pet in the unfortunate event that he/she becomes lost.

Parasite Prevention

Included in each and every wellness exam will be a customized parasite prevention plan for your pet. The lifestyle of each individual pet, as well as the prevalence of known parasites in the region, are both considered when establishing this plan.  Without a firm parasite prevention plan, your pet will be susceptible to multiple types of parasite infections over its lifetime, which could adversely affect your pet’s health.

Surgeries

State of the Heart Veterinary Care offers numerous forms of surgical treatments for a variety of preventative medicine concerns, including spay/neuter procedures, surgical corrective procedures to address breed-related abnormalities, tumor removals, surgery to address traumatic injuries, and surgeries for diagnostic purposes.  We are proud to announce that we will soon be offering laparoscopic spays, gastropexies, and abdominal organ biopsies to minimize the amount of trauma and improve the recovery associated with these procedures.

Dentistry

It is well established that maintaining healthy gums and teeth correlates to promoting further longevity in a pet’s life.  We at SOTH offer comprehensive dental care treatments for each and every pet that we serve. Each dental treatment includes a detailed oral examination, dental radiographs, ultrasonic scaling and polishing of the teeth, and application of plaque prevention products.  When needed, dental extractions are provided during these procedures. General anesthesia is required to prevent your pet from experiencing significant anxiety during their dental care, as well as to allow for optimal cleaning of their teeth.

Advanced Diagnostics

Advanced diagnostics are crucial in providing the best possible veterinary care for animals. These diagnostics are used to detect and diagnose various health conditions and diseases in animals, ranging from minor illnesses to life-threatening conditions. Advanced imaging techniques such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and ultrasounds allow veterinarians to get a detailed view of the animal’s internal organs and tissues, which can help make an accurate diagnosis.

Radiology

SOTH provides X-ray services to aid in the diagnosis of a variety of injuries and ailments that a pet may experience.  With the use of X-ray imaging, we can obtain images of inside the body, which allows for accurate, detailed assessments and diagnoses of your pet’s condition.

Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound uses sound waves to offer a non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free method of imaging your pet’s internal organs.  Ultrasound and X-ray imaging are considered complementary to one another. Ultrasound imaging is very advantageous in the examination of soft tissue in general and the abdominal cavity in particular.  Similarly, X-ray imaging excels in the imaging of the skeletal system as well as the respiratory system.

Electrocardiograms (ECG)

Electrocardiography involves the recording of the heart’s electrical activity.  ECG testing allows for the detection of abnormal heart rhythms, as well as for close monitoring of the heart’s status throughout each and every anesthetic procedure.

Blood pressure monitoring

Pets can, and at times do, suffer from high blood pressure. SOTH has the capability of testing and monitoring you pet’s blood pressure, if your pet’s wellness plan includes the recommendation for such testing.

Examinations for Sickness

We offer two versions of sick examinations.

(1) Scheduled examinations for minor conditions that are considered stable and can wait until an established appointment time.

(2) Urgent care examinations for significant conditions that should be addressed as soon as possible.  SOTH will provide same-day appointments for urgent care examinations.
